WRITER'S STATEMENT
As a playwright and feature film screenwriter, the genres Kyle often leans towards are character dramedies and thrillers, but almost all of them have a theme of redemption. Kyle started out as a screenwriter, as he is a very visual person, but being dyslexic, putting your vision on paper can sometimes feel like climbing a snowy mountain with slippers. As a result, he turned to plays as it was easier for him to read, for it was just characters and their voices, their cadence, what they hide, and what they wish to say. Working in both mediums as a screenwriter and playwright, Kyle often finds himself in an interesting space with the knowledge of how to tell a story visually, as well as how to move a story on the stage through dialogue and dramatic action.
Coming from a working-class family, the people he loves all stem from the salt of the earth. Having been brought up in the restaurant business with two parents as chefs, in the thick of New Jersey, he had seen many walks of life come in and out. From Immigrants to addicts to single mothers, and people pushing to work the extra hours just to make ends meet, whenever he draws up a character, it always seems to stem from those who came through his parents' kitchen. Overhearing conversations as a little kid. Listening to people talk about hard things but with humor made him learn about the human condition and how we cope with the harder parts of life.
