
ABOUT KYLE C. MUMFORD
Kyle is a filmmaker/playwright based in Brooklyn, NY. He attended the School Of Visual Arts where his third-year film, a documentary titled “Mumford’s Law” was accepted into the Heartland Film Festival in 2009 and was nominated for the Jury Award. His then thesis film, "His Naked Mind" was an award-winning feature at SVA's Dusty Film Fest. Since graduation in 2010, Kyle has worked in the editorial and locations departments for film and TV. He later became assistant for writer/director Tom Gormican, then later directed music videos appearing on Nick Jr, MTVu, and Fuse TV.
His award-winning short films have been accepted into Palm Springs International ShortFest, and Florida Film Fest, along with many others. Kyle’s screenplays have made it to 2nd round twice at Sundance Labs, (Invited the 2nd time), and seven times at Austin Film Festival. In the world of theatre, Kyle found mentoring and training in acting from the late great Elizebeth Kemp. In 2021, his play “The Victims” was accepted into the Actor’s Studio Playwright and Directors Unit, moderated and mentored by José Rivera, John Patrick Shanley, and Lyle Kessler where his written work was performed by such talent as Raúl Castillo. More recently, his play “Shrimp Pudding” premiered at the Chain Theatre. He also co-wrote the screenplay, “Stop Talking” for producer/director Chadd Harbold at Post Film.
